Barack Obama and his family celebrated Father’s Day by attending Sunday services at the Apostolic Church of God on Chicago’s South Side, where Obama gave a speech highly critical of absent black fathers. He urged them to remember their filial responsibilities and be more engaged in raising their children. Obama reminded the congregation of his own experience growing up without a father, saying that if he could be anything in life, he would be a good father to his daughters.

It’s a good thing, too, because Cleveland Brown is shaping up as network television’s great black hope for the 2008-09 season — he’s the only minority character anchoring a new series on the Big Five networks. Granted, his Family Guy spin-off, The Cleveland Show, didn’t even make it onto the fall schedule (it’s slated for midseason). Yes, Cleveland himself is merely a figment of animation. And true, the person who provides his voice, Mike Henry, is actually white. But hey, it’s a start, right?

Filming on the “Top Secret” VH1/CBS joint venture reality show “The Jacksons” has been put on hold until Viacom can find a house(s) to put the whole family in comfortably. The show will feature Jermaine Jackson(and kids), La Toya Jackson, Randy Jackson(and kids), Marlon Jackson(and kids), Jackie Jackson(and kids), Tito Jackson(and kids), Rebbie Jackson(and kids), Katherine Jackson and Joseph Jackson! Who knew they were breeding like bunny rabbits over there! No wonder they’re all bankrupt!

Since my girl Meagan Good got no billing from this weekend’s Adam Sandler flick, I’m not going to mess with the Zohan! (Hey, she deserves to have her name on the poster, or at least her photo!) So, I’mma check out a similar blaxploitation film on DVD entitled BLACK SHAMPOO! Yes, I am serious, “Dont’ give him no sass, or he’ll kick your ass!” …Maybe after that, I’ll watch Disco Godfather?!
